It may not have seemed that way since it's so long since we've done a blog - life has been pretty uneventful in the last month or so.
I am now 15 weeks along. I had a scan at 10 weeks to confirm my due date and it's 9th February - and there was a heatbeat - so that's always a good sign ;)
Katie & Wai's wedding is fast approaching. I am getting really excited for them. I am still losing weight too - so that's an added bonus - Bridesmaid beside a size 8 & 10 - scary!!!
Amie is into everything and lets us know when she's not happy about something.

Hello all.
Well last week Rebecca turned 25. Yep, that's a 1/4 of a century. She can no longer rub it in that I'm so old as shes now in the same tick box as me when ever she fills out any forms.
Not only is Becky old, she's pregnant. Yes you read correctly...Pregnant. Some time in early Feb Amie is going to get a little brother or sister. We are really excited, Amie has no clue but I'm sure she would love a little brother. Either that or I would love a son. I'd be happy with either really.
Apart from the above nothing too much has been happening so I'll leave you all with a couple of photos.

HM Rage

Hello again. Well better late then never.
Over Queens birthday weekend we all went down to HM Rage at Matamata to lend a hand. It's a camp that Becky & I have been going to for many years. In fact we were both going there before we even knew each other. Anyway it was a great weekend & we all including Amie had a blast. We managed to hang out with great friends & I even managed to catch up with a few that I hadn't seen for years.
As for normal life, well it's ..... normal. I'm working and Rebecca is also working(too hard if you ask me). Amie is a crack up. She now has 2 more teeth on the bottom and is getting faster on her feet every day. Tonight we took her to the mall for dinner and she loved running all round the place, nice big wide open spaces and colours to look at. She even discovered a ride on car that you put $2 into. Well we didn't have the $2 but she loved it and started to get really upset when we decided that she had had enough.

We have been incredibly slack at taking pics of Amie lately. So over the last week she has had a whole lot taken!
On Saturday we went to a tree planting day. Our local council run them to get babies along to have a tree planted on behalf of them, then they get a certificate say that they are a 'valued member of our city'. So Amie got a Kahikatea, which grows as wide as a Kauri but taller - or so we were told.

This coming weekend we are heading down to Matamata for HM Rage. So it will be Amie's first camp.

How time flies! Yesterday we had Amie's first birthday party. It was lots of fun. And she seemed to have a really good time. I was surprised how quickly it was all over though! I guess kids do have a shorter attention span. Amie was very spoilt! (What's new!)

We also said bye to Tim again. He's back off to the USA for about 7 months this time. So Amie will well and truly be running by the time he gets back.

We just realised James forgot to mention that Amie is walking - well pretty much anyway! She regularly walks halfway across the lounge and then starts trying to run, so falls over and decides it's faster to crawl!

Easter Holidays!!

As usual I have been super slack in doing another blog. It's been almost 3 months, people are even asking me when this one is coming.
This Easter Becky & I thought we would join my parents & take Amie to Sydney with them for Easter. So we packed our bags, including Amie's pink suit case and jumped on a plane to Sydney. We stayed with some family friends over there in the suburb of Panania, which I think is South West Sydney. Becky wanted to hit all the shops so on various days we caught the train into town and walked about the place. I have to admit that their rail system is very efficient, Auckland could learn a lot from it.
We took Amie to the Zoo and the Aquarium in Darling Harbour & from what we could tell she had a great time.
My Dad hired a large 7 seater wagon and we all piled into it and headed up the line to a little town called Mudgee. It was quite a cool little town and didn't take long to navigate though it's entirity. The next day via a local vineyard we all headed to a town called Gulgong and visited a Museum thats showed off everything old about Gulgong. It was actually really interesting.
After this Becky & I decided that we would like to go out on our own for an evening so after getting back to Sydney we traded the wagon for a smaller car and headed down to Wollongong. I had splashed out and hired a GPS for the trip and fell in love with it. This thing was amazing. Anyway after spending a night there at the advice of the Thorpes we headed further inland to a little town called Berry for a pie. Becky actaully thought the pie was the best she had ever eaten.
On the way home Becky decided that she wanted to visit Miranda Fair which is this huge mall near Cronulla, so with the help of my best friend (GPS) we made our way to the mall and then on to IKea at Homebush.
Anway I'm most likely boring you now with our holiday so I'll leave it here. I'll post some photos for those who are interested or not friends with me on facebook.

In two weeks Amie turns 1. I'm actually struggling to see where the last year has gone. Becky is throwing Amie a party & brunch at her Mum & Dad's place with a fairy theme. & No I'm not dressing up as a fairy.

It's hard to believe that in a couple of days we will have a 9 month old baby - man does time fly!

A lot has happened since our last blog. Amie had more playdates with Charlotte, Amie had her first swim in the sea. There was Christmas - Amie learnt to crawl (at last!) on Christmas day, then we went away to the South Island for 10 days, then to Mt Maunganui for a week. And now Amie is spending her days with Grandma H, cause I am working for a few weeks at my old job while they are in-between staff.

Almost Christmas!

It's less than one month till Christmas now. I am sooo excited - Amie's first Christmas!
We put up the tree a couple of days ago and put all the presents out yesterday. James thinks I am crazy for doing it so early, but I couldn't wait any longer. One side of the tree is all Amie's presents and the other side is everyone elses!

Last Wednesday Amie had Plunket. She is now 71cm long and 8.04kgs.

Miriam & Charlotte came to stay for a couple of days earlier in the week. Amie decided she was top of the pecking order and starting beating Charlotte up! Didn't last too long though - Charlotte starting fighting back! But now they are great friends.

6 Months & 2 teeth later...

Well here we are 6 months later and I seriously can't believe how fast its flown by. Well actually it will be 6 months on Wednesday but close enough.
Amie went to Plunket the other day and she now weighs 7.33Kgs and is 69cm long. Those of you who read the last blog will notice the she has lost some weight. We put it down to all the jumping in the jolly jumper and all the effort she puts into sitting up. Amie still hates laying down regardless if its on her back or belly. She still has no real desire to roll over although Becky tells me she has done it once or twice trying to reach for toys. The little monkey won't do it for her Dad though.

Amie's Uncle Timmy has come back from Camp America which has Becky ecstatic and Amie well...

The big thing at the moment is that Amie managed to pop through 2 teeth in the last 2 weeks. I managed to get a shot of them this morning.

These teeth have unfortunately for Becky added a new challenge when it comes to feeding time. I occasionally hear the odd scream from Rebecca usually followed by Amie laughing her head off. I think she might have to be careful or she may find herself with a bottle.
With the teething process I think we have been really lucky. Amie has been a little bit grumpy but really has managed to stay really happy and still sleep well.

Amie's Great Nana brought her a walker a few weeks back which she loves. She attempts to walk around the place pushing all the buttons which make all sorts of noises.

Amie has also hit the Clingy stage. All she wants to do is hang on to her mum, Dad's no longer good enough. So now poor Becky gets even less time to her self as Amie is sleeping less and wanting to be held. Another stage we have noticed is that she has started looking and tracking. i.e if Macy walks into the room Amie will get all excited and then follow the dog around and then try to find her again if she leaves the room. Or if I'm holding her & Becky gets up and goes to the kitchen Amie will follow her the whole way and then get upset when she can no longer see her. (Lucky I'm not taking too much personally)

Becky has now increased the amount of solids feeds that Amie gets a day as she LOVES food. I suppose she has no change with the DNA she has inherited from both sides. Becky has been busy making up all sorts of amazing food, sticking it all in the blender and then freezing it all. If ever the bird flu actually hits Amie is sorted for a year or so.
I'm not sure if I have mentioned this yet but...Ice cream. She has definitely developed a love for Ice Cream. Her Grandma and Poppa love to give it to her and man you should see the tanty that follows if everyone is eating ice cream and none is coming her way.

Almost 5 months old!

Well, in less than a week Amie will be 5 months old - doesn't time fly!
I was looking back at all the photos we've taken of her since she was born (all 680 of them!). It is amazing how much she has changed - she was so scrawny!
We went to Plunket yesterday and Amie is now 7.59kgs (16pd 9oz) and 65cm long.
She is also on two lots of solids a day now. Yesterday I even made homemade mush. We now have piles of pumpkin cubes and carrot cubes in the freezer.
Amie has also started sitting - not real sitting I guess since she can't get there by herself, but we can sit her up and she will stay there for ages.

Well not too much has happened since the last blog. Amie has started sleeping through the nights again which is great for Becky as she had gotten used to sleeping through the night her self.
We did try Amie on solids for one night & she seemed to really get into it but we haven't tried since. It was a real laugh & I'm sure that most of the farex was absorbed into her skin as apposed to into her mouth.

As you can see....not too much going in.

In the last blog Amie had discovered her hands, well this time it's her voice and her feet. She has started making weird noises at full volume when she is really happy. In fact her new favourite thing to do (bar the Jolly Jumper) is to lay on the floor, grab her feet and sing to her self. Also the grabbing the feet thing has now (to our amusement) led to her sticking her feet into her mouth.

I think this one speaks for its self.

She has started rolling onto her side now, not all the way over like Charlotte but she isn't too far away from it. I'm actually going to request that Charlotte get tested for performance enhancing drugs. Two weeks younger and rolling right over...... I think we need to increase Amie's training..... :)
The Jolly Jumper is still the hot favorite at the moment, she really gets into it, jumping all over the place. If I'm holding her on my lap now and take the weight off her feet she must think she's in the jumper & she starts trying to jump up & down.
Well since nothing much else has happened I'll sign off for now with a few photos.

Sleep...what sleep?!

Amie has discovered her hands. She loves sucking her index and middle fingers. Sometimes she will even try and get both hands in her mouth at the same time.
We put Amie in her Jolly Jumper for the first time this week. It would have to be one of the best inventions ever! She LOVES it. She spends ages in it and is laughing and smiling the whole time. She has figured out how to spin round in circles in it - albeit slow circles, it is still fun to watch.

Amie has decided that she no longer needs to sleep during the day. If I am lucky she will do an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon or evening.
Sleeping at night was still going really well until earlier this week. She woke at 4.30am Tuesday, 4.30am Wednesday, 2.30am Thursday and 5.30am this morning. So hopefully she is back to 8 hours now! She could possibly be ready for solids I guess, so Mum & I went down to the supermarket last night and got some Farex, so I've decided if she's still waking by Monday we'll try her on some Farex then.

We had Amie's 3 month Plunket check last Wednesday. Amie is now 6.59kgs (14pd 8oz) and 61.5cm. She only put on 250g in the last 3 weeks so the weight gain is starting to slow down.

Well it's been a while since our last blog as we have been really busy, unfortunately not busy with anything really interesting to write about. So I thought I'd just fill you all in on the things that have been happening and a few things that Amie has been up to since the last blog.
Here goes.

Well Mum & Dad H have come back from Australia so we moved back home, nothing exciting there huh?
Last week Amie had her 3 month vaccinations, yes thats correct she is now 3 months old. I really can't believe how fast time has flown by. Thats a quarter of a year rocketed by. I'm actually quite stoked that we have managed to keep a fully dependent little human being alive for this long.
Anyway back to the vaccinations... Grandma Haworth turned up at the doctors to give Becky my Wallet and ended up taking Amie in to see the nurse. Becky waited in the waiting room and poor Amie started screaming as they walked into the nurses room. This of course set Becky off in the waiting room. Well as you can gather Amie didn't enjoy her second experience of needles and was grizzly as any thing afterwards. I came home for lunch and I think she was hanging out for a Daddy cuddle, you could just tell she was upset.
A few days later Amie was playing with Gran G who found a big bump under her skin where one of the 3 needles went in. It actually felt like there was a ball bearing or something similar under her skin.
Anyway since then she has been really happy and she has started talking, she yacks all the time. Well in her own language anyway. Any excuse for a chat & she's up to it. We have also discovered her love of TV, stick her in her bouncenette in front of the box and shes away talking to who ever is on the TV. The other day she was watching the League with Poppa G and she was talking hard out to the commentators. It's great to see her trying to interact.
Amie is still sleeping through the night, about 9 hours on average and I have discovered that one of the highlights of my day is getting her out of her Cot in the mornings as she is so smiley and really is happy to see me.
I don't think I have mentioned that I assembled her cot. She was getting too long for the bassinet, but now that she is in the cot she looks so small.

The Farming Lifestyle

This week we have been staying at the Haworths (James' parents) place - house sitting while they are in Australia. We've been feeding the dogs, cat & chickens...and collecting eggs - we're turning into real farmers! One more week to go.
Amie had her first spa with Poppa last Saturday night - it was sooo cute. She loved the water and was kicking around heaps, like she does in the bath.
Today we met up for lunch with about half the people from our antenatal class - it was cool to catch up and compare babies - Amie is the most beautiful of course!!!
At Plunket this week we reached new heights of porkiness - 6.34kgs (14 pound) and 61cm long.

9 1/2 Hours...It's a record!

On Saturday we had our Dads, Mums and Rob over to install 2 new windows in our bedroom. While the guys were doing that Mum G did the tiling in the kitchen - with a tiny bit of help from me (i cut the spacers!), and Mum H babysat Amie.

Amie slept most of the day, so I wasn't expecting anything miraculous that night as far as sleeping for ages goes...but at 6.45am on Sunday morning we realised that she had slept 9 1/2 hours! None of this 8 hours stuff for her - straight to 9 1/2. We are now working on 12hrs! (Dreams are free!)

It was my birthday on Tuesday and we went to Lone Star for dinner (yum) and then came back to our place for dessert. I had a good day - 24 feels so old though!

Amie has been really happy again this week. She has been smiling & laughing lots & babbling.

Hi, Bex here! This is the first blog I have written - scary!
This week has been good so far. Amie has been a lot happier - although she is really sleepy at the moment - she must be having a growth spurt.
On Friday I resigned from work - I am now officially a full-time mum - look out! My maternity pay had come to an end (although I still had 3 months leave left), and we had decided that I would be staying home, so I went in and broke the news. Alan & Alison took it really well (they are so lovely!). They said they were kind of expecting it anyway. I'll be going in to train the new person, and probably be the temp for the new person, so that should give me the odd day out of the house.
Miriam & Charlotte came for dinner on Monday night. We took heaps of photos of Charlotte and Amie since it was the last time they will see each other for possibly 6 months!
Plunket came again on Monday. Amie is now 5.78kgs (12pd 12oz). That means she has put on 580g in the last 2 weeks - what a porker!

Amie...The Grumpy Socialite

Well the last few days have been interesting. Amie has been feeding for short amounts of time, dribbling, chewing on her hand, waking early during her day sleeps and most of all, being really grumpy, so grumpy that Becky took her to the doctors this afternoon to see if she was sick.... nope. Apparently the doctor reckons that babies can go through a stage about now where for no reason they are grumpy.
I personally think she is upset because her mate Dave just moved to Mt Maunganui.

In this photo she is about 3 seconds away from throwing a tizzy.

The sleeping for 8 hours during the night thing was a bit of a fad for Amie. She is now back to 6 hours which means an extra early morning wake up which unfortunately is making mornings not so flash for Becky.

But with all the crying and grumbling Amie still managed to find time to be very sociable.
She managed to fit in dinner dates and even a late night coffee with Hayley from Dunedin.

Grizzles & Sleeps

Well the last few days have been a bit hard on Becky. Amie hasn't been herself during the days and is very grizzly and crying a whole lot. She also has decided that sleeping during day light hours is boring which in turn means poor Becky doesn't get a chance to rest. We suspect Amie is feeling a tad under the weather.

Although Grandad Rae managed to get her to calm down for a while last night.

On the up side though Amie slept 8 hours last night!! We couldn't believe it. We awoke this morning to Amie crying at 5.45am and realised that she hadn't stirred since 9.30 the previous night. Basically it's the first time in 7 weeks that Becky has been able to sleep uninterrupted for that long.

As you can see from the photo below Amie is loving Rebecca's latest purchase. She brought this cool retro Bouncenette. It's just like I had as a baby but brand new.

Another cool development is that Amie is becoming more responsive, she smiles lots (When she's not feeling ill) laughs occasionally and even talks back to us in her own special language which I'm sure can't be translated.
The Plunket Nurse has started her visits now and seems to think that she is doing great. Amie as of Tuesday weights 5.2kg's and is putting on an impressive 200gm's a week.

Miriam Burt came over last week and brought with her some clay. Charlotte & Amie had their foot prints done, which neither of them enjoyed at the time.

Welcome to our first blog!
This Queens Birthday weekend has been a full-on one for us. My brothers were up from Napier and Invercargill to meet Amie for the first time so much of the weekend was spent with them.

Grandad Haworth took this photo as Amie was sleeping in her carrycot on a cold Kumeu Sunday morning. Peaceful huh?!
